It is now dedicated to Mothers of dreamers everywhere.Dave earned the status of the family poet-laureate, somewhat reluctantly, when Swashbucklers Mommy became a Franzwa-family favorite. The premise for the poem reveals the love of a son for his Mother, and the love of a Mother for her dreamer.Dave combines rich imagination with his trademark humor to create a whimsical, verbal-pictorial, expressing a wide variety of natural, human sentiments, flavored with his all-around good-natured nuttiness.Though originally written in 1989, and because the author couldnt draw a straight line with a laser-level if he tried, the poem has had only one graphic associated with it, until now. Daves wife, Carrie Franzwa, and daughter, Leonia (Franzwa) Meek co-illustrated it with all new images which they forcibly extracted from the authors mind.According to Dave, that was the only truly excruciating part of the publishing process.Swashbucklers Mommy has also inspired Dave to create the Tales of The Swashbuckler series, which is also dedicated to Mothers, Fathers, and other guardians of dreamers.Swashbucklers Mommy is for Mothers and, as with any of the Tales of The Swashbuckler series to come, is well-suited for family read-alongs, children, and for those who are not ashamed to admit to being children at heart. There is an added bonus inside for anyone with little ones who might want a little help creating a physical gift for the Moms and Grandmas in their lives. A link is provided to a page on www.TheSwashbuckler.com for three (3) possibilities. (These are also for those of you who enjoy putting together inexpensive craft ideas.)The first is a Pop-Up Card pattern, along with instructions, that you can insert your own photo into. The second is a PDF version of the original poem and illustration, on a single page that is suitable for printing and framing. The third bonus is the new version in PDF, with all of the new illustrations. Its not a single page so it would be a little harder to print out something to work with, but its still a beautiful book.If youre the sentimental type, you will most certainly love this poem.
